Fasteners & Fixings Department
The screw that matches the wall it goes into.
Screws, nails, bolts, nuts, washers, anchors, brackets and construction adhesive. Bulk bins and packaged, for jobs of any size.
What our fasteners & fixings department stocks
The fastener section carries screws, nails, bolts, nuts, washers, anchors, brackets and construction adhesive. Everything comes two ways: bulk bins when you need a handful or a pound for a small repair, and packaged quantities when you are fastening a whole job. Nobody should have to buy a box of two hundred to get the six screws a Saturday repair needs.
This is the department where bringing the old part matters most. Thread sizes, head types and lengths are easy to guess wrong from memory and cheap to match at the counter. Drop the bolt in your pocket before you drive over.

The problem in detail
Kingston walls are mostly block and concrete, and block does not hold a wood screw. Half the failed shelves and sagging brackets we hear about were fastened with the wrong anchor for the wall, or no anchor at all. The fix costs a few dollars: the right plug or masonry anchor rated for the load, set in a clean hole. Getting that match right at the counter beats re-drilling a crumbling hole later.
The second problem is rust, and it gets worse the closer you get to the sea. Salt air travels, and a plain zinc-plated screw that lasts years in Stony Hill can streak rust down a Portmore gate in a couple of seasons. For exposed outdoor work, coastal addresses want stainless or properly galvanised fasteners, and it is worth saying so at the counter before we fill the bag.
Then there is storm season. When a hurricane watch goes up, fasteners disappear off every shelf in Kingston at the same time as the plywood. The people who fixed their loose zinc and secured their tarpaulin points earlier in the year are the ones not standing in a line in the rain.
How Malcolm’s helps
Bring the old fastener, or a photo of it next to a tape measure, and tell us what it goes into: block, timber, steel or board. We will match the size and pick the right anchor or bolt for the wall and the load. If the work lives outside, say where. A fastener for a Liguanea interior and one for a gate near the harbour are different answers, and the difference is a few dollars now against rust streaks later. Buying from the bulk bins for small jobs, or packaged for full jobs, both work at the same counter. Contractors running through fasteners on every job can ask about a trade account.
Not sure what you need? Bring the old part or a photo to the counter, or call ahead and we will check stock before you drive over. We deliver across our Kingston service area on larger orders.
Fasteners & Fixings FAQs
Can I buy just a few screws instead of a whole box?
Yes. We keep bulk bins so you can buy the exact handful a small repair needs, and packaged quantities when you are fastening a whole job. Nobody should buy two hundred screws to use six.
What anchor should I use in a block wall?
Block and concrete need a masonry anchor or wall plug matched to the load, not a bare wood screw. Bring the bracket or shelf hardware you are mounting and tell us the wall type, and we will match the anchor and screw at the counter.
Which fasteners hold up near the sea?
Salt air is hard on plain zinc-plated fasteners, especially at coastal addresses like Portmore. For exposed outdoor work near the water, ask for stainless or properly galvanised options and we will point you at what we have on the shelf for that use.
Do you deliver fastener orders?
Small quantities most people walk in for or pick up with a call-ahead order. For contractor quantities, or fasteners going out with a bulk building materials order, we deliver across Kingston and St. Andrew. Call with your list for a quote.
